put in 2 boys and about 5 girls

in a 4 foot tank, if you don't know how to strip fry puts lots and lots of plants in there, put a few upside down flower pots with a hole cut out of them in there, feed them well.

ph about 7.7 is what my breed in

that is how my tank is set up and they love it and i always have fry.

the females usually like to get away from the males so yes. I use a different system. I keep my colonies together in a large tank and take out the females after 10 days holding they go into a 2 foot mummy tank and have the babies un interupted. then after release mum is returned to the community breed tank. the sorts of colonies I would put together, Electric yellow, blue dolphin, Ob peacock very minimal chance of cross breeding as they tend to only be interested in their own kind due to the dramatic colour difference.
Let us know how yougo and I hope this helps.

From about 5-7 cm depending on maturity. i reccommend to start with males from one breeder females from another. this creates a strong healthy strain of the species, rather than buying the lot from 1 breeder and mating brother and sister continuing the problem of inbreeding.

ive got two upside down flowerpots with hole cut out in my tank , in one ive got one big male electric yellow hiding and the other my big female electric yellow hiding, is this normal , they seem to swap to every now and then, ive got nine electric yellows in the tank but the two oldest ones are always hiding is this normal for them .

Also ive been to other breeders to buy fish and see there set up with there electric yellows and they seem to have nothing in the tank but there breeding colony (nowhere for them to hide ) is this better for the fish to breed instead of hiding all the time.

i keep maingano in the with my yellows, the mainganos are a bit aggressive, so i keep smaller numbers of mainganos to yellows.

they still breed like rabbits
